Reuse is when a product is used again in the same form or for a different purpose. It can mean purchasing non-disposable items or it can mean passing an item along to another person for continued use. It should be distinguished from recycling, which is the breaking down of used items to make raw materials for the manufacture of new products. Here are some tips for you to reuse your belongings-

Sell or Donate

  1. Look into charities or local businesses that will accept items such as used dresses, sports equipment, utensils or blankets in support of their work.
  2. Give used items to family members, neighbors, and the needy.
  3. Before disposing of the old electronics, sell them or donate them.
  4. Donate your old toys to the community school, orphanage or any charity foundation.
  5. Reusable items from construction projects can also be donated to Habitat for Humanity Restore, retail outlets that sell quality used and surplus building materials at discounted prices, with proceeds going toward Habitat’s home builds.

Use in Household Chores

  1. Use your old cloth as a rag, mop, napkin, table cloth, etc. before throwing it out.
  2. Save grocery and other shopping bags to reuse at a later time, whether for packing lunches, doing additional shopping or giving items to friends or family.
  3. Reuse containers and other materials for storage and crafts.
  4. You can also plant trees in old containers, cans or bottles.
  5. Use the small old food container or jar as a spice jar.
  6. Reuse single-side printed pages for scratch paper or make a drawing book for your children.

Maintain and Repair Products

  1. Maintain and repair mobile, computers, and portable electronics before buying a new one.
  2. Mend clothing and repair shoes, boots, handbags, and luggage whenever possible.
  3. Repair your furniture and use them as long as you can.
