Go for Zero Waste Community
The ultimate solution to every pollution is to go for a Zero Waste life. The 5R approaches of zero waste play a vital role in climate change strategy to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. According to a study, roughly 42% of all greenhouse gas emissions are caused by the production and use of goods, including food, products and packaging in the USA. By reducing, reusing and recycling these products we can conserve that energy and dramatically reduce our carbon emissions. (Source)
As an overpopulated country, the food crisis is becoming one of the biggest problems in Bangladesh. Though the agricultural land of Bangladesh is very fertile and this is the main economical sector of Bangladesh, a huge amount of agricultural land is now buried under the waste and that contributes to the food scarcity in this country. A study shows that in 1991, waste landfills occupied 43.09 hectares of land and in 2014, it became 157.2 hectares. If this track remains the same, then by 2025 the occupied land by waste will be 311.91 hectares. (Source)
We can regain this huge amount of land simply by adopting zero waste life. Since in a zero waste community, no waste will reach the landfill, so no agricultural land will be occupied by waste. And this will not only prevent pollutions but also help to reduce the food crisis.
So, before the waste fully swallowed our earth, start to live a waste-free life. Start it by practicing yourself. Be a model to others. Take initiatives from your home, your family. Then step by step we will be able to build waste-free earth.
