Community-based Organization (CBO) Formation
CBO formation is very important to raise awareness within the communities on zero waste principles and to seek support for the project from municipality authorities and local associations. The CBOs act as community watchdogs to monitor and take action in case of any waste-related hazards/pollution. ESDO has taken actions to form such CBOs in each project area. Already there formed two CBOs in Rangpur and forming CBO in Lalmatia, Dhaka is in under process.
CBO Formation in Rangpur
ESDO formed two Community Based organizations (CBO)s along with the community consultations on 13th and 14th February to make them able to take actions and decisions on any waste-related problems on their own. ESDO will guide them and educate them in every aspects and also monitor them in regular basis. But these CBOs will directly work in the communities to implement the practice of zero waste.
The first CBO has been formed within the community people of 25 No. Ward, Rangpur City Corporation Shalbon, Rangpur on 13th February and the second one was formed with the people of Betgari Village, Betgari Union, Rangpur.
CBO Formation in Dhaka
ESDO conducted a Community Based organizations (CBO) meeting on 7th June, 2021 and formed a CBO community with total member of 5, in order to raise awareness within the community which will work as watchdog to monitor and to take actions for waste related pollution. ESDO will guide them and educate them in every aspects and also monitor them in regular basis. But these CBOs will directly work in the communities to implement the practice of zero waste.
The initial CBO has been formed within the community people of Lalmatia Block# B and Block# C. With the help of CBO, ESDO will promote recyclable products in the community and to promote and expand the activities related to SME’s. The committee will consists of a Convener, a Joint Convener, a Member Secretary and Two Special Member. All members of the committee will be from Lalmatia Block# B and Block# C.
