Media Orientation
ESDO arranges media orientations regularly with the reporters and journalists to make them up to date with our regular activities and to build the capacity to report on waste issues and create a media support group for media advocacy.
Media Orientation in Dhaka
To build up the capacity for the journalists and inform them about the zero waste projects in Dhaka and to report on environmental pollution, especially on waste-related issues, ESDO organized a program titled “Media Orientation on Environmental Journalism and Reporting on Waste Issues” on March 18, 2021, at Four Seasons Restaurant, Satmasjid Road, and Dhaka. The media orientation program was held from 11.00 am to 2.00 pm.
The main objective of media orientation is to assist the local journalist/reporter on environmental journalism so that they can address the waste issues in reporting.
The resource person of this event was Former Secretary of Government of People Republic of Bangladesh and ESDO Chairpersson, Syed Marghub Murshed; Internationally renowned Environmental Journalist and SocialJustice Advocate, Dr. Shahriar Hossain and Executive Director, ESDO and Environmental education and communication expert, Ms. Sultana Sultana.
Media Orientation in Rangpur
As per the action plan, ESDO organized a Media Orientation on “Environmental Journalism: Reporting on Waste Issues” on 16th February, 2021 at RDRS, Rangpur.
The main objective of this day long media orientation was to assist the local journalist on environmental journalism, so that they can address the waste issues in reporting. And this is where environmental journalists play a crucial role; they inform and they can raise awareness among people.
Sustainability, biodiversity and renewable energies are some of the topics covered by professionals that are increasingly more essential. Resource Persons for the session were Dr. Shahriar Hossain, Internationally renowned Environmental Journalist and Social Justice Advocate, Mr. Shahiduzaman, Senior Journalist & Editor, News network;, Ms. Siddika Sultana, Executive Director, ESDO and Environmental education and communication expert and Session Coordinator Mr. Sadrul Alam, Senior Journalist. More than twenty journalists were attended this daylong session.
