Zero Waste Community in Bangladesh
Zero Waste is a philosophy and a designed principle that goes beyond recycling to take a “whole system” approach to the flow of resources and waste through human society. It attempts to guide people to emulate sustainable natural cycles, where discarded materials become resources for others to use. Every day Bangladesh generates 25,000 tons of solid wastes in the urban areas. From which an enormous amount of wastes remains uncollected. It is expected that waste production will be increased by 47,000 tons per day by 2025. If Bangladesh failed to collect and dispose of all the trash, then the whole country will face a big disaster soon. Already it is harming human health by contaminating surface and groundwater, soil, and air. To solve this problem Environment and Social Development Organization-ESDO launched a unique and innovative project titled “Building Zero Waste Communities for a Pollution-Free Environment in Bangladesh”.
We work For
Refuse
Learn to say no. You can simply cut down on your waste by refusing to buy individually packaged items and single-use plastics.
Reduce
Don't impulse buy, and reduce your general consumption. Before you purchase something, consider whether you really need it and how many uses you’ll get out of it.
Reuse
Let's be innovative and try to find ways to use our used items for different purposes. Before tossing out your trash, consider whether it can be repurposed as something else.
Recycle
Don't just throw away your wastes. Segregate items that can be recycled. Make sure that you sort and clean all items before bringing them to recycling centers.
